 Downloading files - hints

Your private gallery provides you with the option to download all of the files in one go, or to select individual files.

Depending on whether you are using Windows or Apple IOS, the download process can be slightly different for each one.

Windows: To download all files at once.

  1. Click on "Download all files" and enter email details at the checkout.
  2.  Select "Download everything together"
  3.  Your portraits will be downloaded to a folder on your computer.  The portraits are contained within a ZIP file.  Click on this to remove the files and save them to a folder of your choice.

iPad

Earlier versions of the IPad were designed around the philosophy that all information would be stored in the cloud and there is no obvious way to download and manage files.  This was resolved on later versions of the iPad.  The easiest way to determine which is which, if you have a file management app on your iPad, then you should be able to download the files.

If you have an older iPad or do not have a file manager installed, free basic File Manager apps are available from the Apple app store.

Assuming that you have a file manager installed, the download process is similar to a Windows device.

iPad: To download all files at once.

  1. Click on "Download all files" and enter email details at the checkout.
  2.  Select "Download everything together"
  3.  Your iPad should prompt with "Open in"<name of file manager app>
  4. Open in the File manager app and tap on the ZIP folder name (will be something like 855dca85....etc)
  5. This will show a folder that is the same name as your Private gallery e.g. "Fred"
  6. Tap to display list of files
  7. Tap to display portrait.
  8. Tap on icon in top right corner of iPad to bring up options.
  9. Select "Save Image" to save the portrait to the iPad Camera Roll.

In the event that the files can't be downloaded to your iPad, please contact me at David@dcharlesmason.co.uk and I'll arrange for the files to be placed on a generic cloud drive such as Dropbox,  forwarded via email, or placed onto a USB thumb drive.  We'll find a work around.
