Archive - Faces of Bexhill
Some people run marathons or jump out of aeroplanes to raise money for good causes (good luck to them!), but I thought there might be a more sedate, but potentially equally daunting way (for some) people to contribute - by having their portrait taken.
So - the (extra) ordinary people of Bexhill answered a request from a total stranger on the local social media channel (Nextdoor) to have their portraits taken in a Hollywood style.
They responded! I met some lovely people, we had a laugh and with their generosity over one thousand pounds was raised for the Alzheimers Society.
With the permission of the sitters the portraits were compiled into a book, 'Faces of Bexhill' on sale now, with profits going to support Singing Down Memory Lane, a local Bexhill-on-Sea initiative. It provides a place where people with memory problems and their carers can go to relax, sing, chat, and socialise.
